Meet Getsmartmoodle:

Freedom is another way of saying Entrepreneurship!

Getsmartmoodle is making some headway in its start-up period and still under development. A organization that supports technological interactive learning applications, promotes Education for Sustainable Development as a means of producing a result - ESD is based on the premise of “learning by doing”. In order to facilitate this concept researchers are responsible for seeking their own information to support their Hypothesis or Theory.

"Education for All" is a UN MDGoal that is worthy of its effort in trying to provide Education for anyone seeking to improve some aspect of themselves or their life. Getsmartmoodle is striving to create a free educational experience; as well as, a socially responsible and entrepreneurial spirit resulting in a positive impact on its community whether nationally or globally ..

GetSmartmoodle is seeking volunteers, laypeople, students, teachers, corportate educators, members of the K-12 educational system, Academic Community, University, and College participation. Getsmartmoodle is an online educational resource utilizing a free open source framework and content publishing system for your continued learning experience. Don’t think that you,”…missed it by that much”. Come and join in the fun that is learning, producing a positive result, and helping to educate a global community...

Getsmartmoodle is based on a pedagogy (the art, science, or career of teaching; especially; education) applications that are based on four educational principals: Constructivism which assembles or creates new knowledge as people or applications interact together, Constructionist learning takes place when instructing or creating elements surrounding an experience, Social Constructivism is a collaborative effort combining a social group assembling things for one another and their shared experience and meanings, and the motives of people in discussion are Connected and Separate behavior; Connected in that a greater subjective empathetic approach is taken in listening, asking questions, and understanding someone else’s point of view and Separate in remaining insensitive to others ideas defending the facts and logic to find loop-holes in participant’s arguments. On the other hand Constructed behavior demonstrates an appropriate use of either the Connected or Separate approaches in a given situation. Consequentially the idea surfaces that both teacher and student are continually learning from their experiences.

Obviously Moodle cannot impose this method of activity, but supports the concept of pedagogy. Forthcoming improvements to the overall technical infrastructure of moodle architecture will support improvements in the pedagogical model.

Educational Economic Stimulus Awards
by Jennie Admin User - Sunday, September 20, 2009, 01:25 PM

Obama will give you $2,500 a year to go to school

Ok people I believe that this Educational Stimulus Award will happen. Here is my insight however, I believed the Government Reports back during 2002 - 2003 that there was going to be a huge need for Technology Employment continuing on until and beyond 2014 and forward. I put myself back into school and was doing quite well, with a few technical problems here and there, as we all experience but my grades were good. During the 2008 calendar year I tried to find employment in this advancing and in demand Technology Field in the USA. In the area of Northern Virginia, where I presently reside, unless you have a Top Secret Clearance, it seems no one wants to speak to you concerning employment. At least that was my impression and experience. So please realize that even if you do go back to school that there are going to be unfair job discriminations that occur in your struggle to secure a decent paying job.

Good luck and much success. My avenue is to start my own business and create paying work it at all possible for others to partake in. Having lived through the worst economic "downturn" in my lifetime I have the desire and the determination to succeed. God Bless. Jennie

Introducing 2 new sister sites ..
by Jennie Admin User - Friday, September 11, 2009, 05:18 PM

Well even though we are still developing here at Getsmartmoodle, recent activities have allowed this site to increase its activities with an added stimulus. In spite of the recent online contest showing this Administration that people can just walk away and not help at all. I have decided to expand and have been able due to being the recipient of Government funding for a short period of time. With this additional income I have gone forward to being the Incorporation of an L3C in Vermont. With this Incorportation there will be changes ... I have included new sites that include The 3rd Goal and Getsmartmoodle L3C. With these additions as flagships we have hope that there will be an increase in participation and a stimulation of our own. We will still endeavor to fulfill our promise in the realm of free education. Government contracting is also an area that we are and have been getting our numbers in. Also, I am meeting in October with a new business associate from Italy that will be coming to introduce a new business venture to the USA. So lets stay tuned to these sites and the adventure of Social Entrepreneurship...

Vision & Definition of ESD
by Jennie Admin User - Friday, August 21, 2009, 06:04 PM

Education for sustainable development is about learning to:

- respect, value and preserve the achievements of the past;
- appreciate the wonders and the peoples of the Earth;
- live in a world where all people have sufficient food for a healthy and productive life;
- assess, care for and restore the state of our Planet;
- create and enjoy a better, safer, more just world;
- be caring citizens who exercise their rights and responsibilities locally, nationally and globally.

In the framework of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014), we would like to get your answers to the following questions:

o How do you say Sustainable Development in your country? Please send us the words ‘sustainable development’ in the different languages and dialects of your country.

o Define Sustainable Development in 25 words or less - please write and send us a sentence containing 25 words maximum which summarizes your perception of sustainable development.

o Is Education for Sustainable development (ESD) different from education for environment (EE)? If yes, what are the differences?

o Are you doing anything related to Education for Sustainable Development in your community, your school? If yes, please give some examples.

o To promote a sustainable world, what would you do?
- At a personal level
- At a community level
- At a national level

o Have you heard of the Earth Charter? If yes, what do you think of it?

Please send your contributions to Decade for Education for Sustainable Development at UNESCO.

Thank you for your cooperation.

UNESCO : A DECADE OF EDUCATION SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
by Jennie Admin User - Friday, August 21, 2009, 04:42 PM

UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014)

In December 2002, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 57/254 to put in place a United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD), spanning from 2005 to 2014, and designated UNESCO to lead the Decade.

The founding value of ESD is respect: respect for others, respect in the present and for future generations, respect for the planet and what it provides to us (resources, fauna and flora). ESD wants to challenge us all to adopt new behaviours and practices to secure our future.

The DESD breaks down the traditional educational scheme and promotes:

Interdisciplinary and holistic learning rather than subject-based learning
Values-based learning
Critical thinking rather than memorizing
Multi-method approaches: word, art, drama, debate, etc.
Participatory decision-making
Locally relevant information, rather than national
The DESD aims at changing the approach to education so that is integrates the principles, values and practices of sustainable development. Its primary goal is to: “encourage Governments to consider the inclusion[…] of measures to implement the Decade in their respective education systems[…] and national development plans.” (United Nations General Assembly resolution 59/237)

The Decade’s goals can be broken down into four key objectives:

Facilitating networking, and collaboration among stakeholders in ESD;
Fostering greater quality of teaching and learning of environmental topics;
Supporting countries in achieving their millennium development goals through ESD efforts;
Providing countries with new opportunities and tools to reform education

Objectives

The United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development is a complex and far-reaching undertaking. The environmental, social, cultural and economic implications are enormous and touch many aspects of life of the world’s population. The overall goal of the DESD is to integrate the principles, values, and practices of sustainable development into all aspects of education and learning. This educational effort will encourage changes in behaviour that will create a more sustainable future in terms of environmental integrity, economic viability, and a just society for present and future generations.

The objectives for the DESD are to:
- facilitate networking, linkages, exchange and interaction among stakeholders in ESD;
- foster an increased quality of teaching and learning in education for sustainable development;
- help countries make progress towards and attain the millennium development goals through ESD efforts;
- provide countries with new opportunities to incorporate ESD into education reform efforts.

Recognizing that how sustainable development, and related educational processes are attained will vary from context to context, these objectives will share the key tasks for UNESCO to perform in support of Member States through its role as lead agency of the Decade. UNESCO’s leadership role and, in fact, the task of Member States are also defined by the four major thrusts of education for sustainable development:
- improving access to quality basic education;
- reorienting existing education programmes;
- developing public understanding and awareness.
- providing training.

Implementation of the DESD

As a result of a broad consultancy, UNESCO drafted an International Implementation Scheme (IIS) for the Decade. The IIS is a reference point for all actors engaged in DESD and focuses primarily on how nations can implement their DESD goals.
Implementing DESD will focus on seven building blocks:

advocacy and vision-building;
consultation and ownership;
partnership and networks;
capacity-building and training;
research and innovation;
information and communication technologies;
monitoring and evaluation
